With Égalité, Kovylina (Moscow, 1971) wants to draw attention to the paradoxical and almost impossible relationship between equality and freedom. By using stools that differ in height, the participants in the performance form, in all their diversity, an equal line, a human horizon. In the middle of the busy Museumplein, together we’ll create a beacon of rest, an opportunity of reflection on each other’s differences. The performance visualizes that not everyone fits in the same box, and that exactly in this diversity equality may be found. Because after all, we’re all different in our own ways.
This performance is organized by the Dutch ArtWorlds foundation, the initiator of the annual ZomerExpo exhibition. During this summer exhibition, ArtWorlds aims to create a situation of equality for all participating artists who have their work judged and selected anonymously.
